It's Your Diet

This post was written by Coach K.

So you heard about this “CrossFit” thing – how it’s all the rage these days and all the cool kids are doing it – that it’s a great way to get in shape. Your friends that do it, that’s all they talk about. You finally decided to give it a shot and now you’re drinking the KoolAid.

Now you’re the one that can’t stop talking about your snatch or how you were pretty sure you died and came back to life after yesterday’s workout. You stay up all night waiting to see what tomorrow’s WOD is and you come to the gym 3, 4, maybe even 5 or 6 times a week. You’ve made friends, you shoot the shit with your coaches on the reg and it’s hands down the best hour of your day. You’re now surrounded by a community of people that want nothing more than to see you succeed in life.

Chances are you joined the gym for one of three reasons (other than getting your friends to stop telling you to try it already) – to improve your health, to look better naked and/or to get stronger and faster. In your first month you felt like f*cking Superman. You’re sore in muscles you never knew existed and doing things you never thought possible.

Time goes on and you’re coming to the gym consistently but maybe you’ve experienced fatigue or still seeing the same number on the scale every week and looking at the same belly roll in the mirror every day or maybe you just can’t break through your current best on a lift. Your first thoughts might be “maybe I’m just not working out enough or working out hard enough,” but I can assure you that’s not the case.

The answer to your goals of feeling better, looking better and moving better has less to do with your training and everything to do with your nutrition. It’s a hard pill to swallow but the truth is simple: You can’t out-train a shitty diet.

That’s why we’re offering nutrition services at Cigar City CrossFit. Our services are different than most of the nutrition “gurus” you’ll find online or at your average globo-gym. We don’t just throw you an arbitrary, cookie-cutter meal plan and tell you to follow it. We take a thorough look at your current habits and personal goals to design a plan of attack that’s completely individualized to you. The most important thing about our coaching is that we teach you how to make good nutrition a sustainable lifestyle rather than a diet. A diet will help you lose 20lbs in 3 months just to put it all back on and more. A lifestyle will help you carry good habits through well… the rest of your life. The truth is, we don’t want to coach you forever we just want to give you the tools you need to crush all your goals, be your best self and live your best life.

So maybe your idea of good nutrition is ordering at salad at McDonald’s or maybe you eat pretty well but need some tweaks to get that extra edge. Whatever the case may be, we’ve got your back! If you’re curious about what these services can do for you and your gains – reach out to a coach or schedule a free 10 minute consultation with Coach K where she’ll take a brief look at your current lifestyle, give you an idea of how much you should be eating and tell you more about what we can do for you.
